Transcending Racism DreamShops

Inspired by the book "How We Ended Racism," by Justin Michael Williams and Shelly Tygielski (HWER), this proposed series of DreamShops would be participatory events held in intentional communities. The DreamShops would work to address the mechanisms of institutionalized and interpersonal racism within specific social dynamics and the greater Intentional Community Movement. These DreamShops would seek to partner with interested communities in the North Eastern U.S. YASHAPI would travel to the hosting community and put on a DreamShop in which attendees are encouraged in a supportive "Brave Space" setting, to challenge their assumptions about each other, themselves and the World.

Some areas of focus may include:

• LEARNING - Presenters deliver compelling information and knowledge of history, including their own.

• SHADOW-WORK - Using Supportive Compassionate Confrontation for Investigating Deep Inside... to Uncover Undesired Internal Programming, Unacknowledged Trauma, Fears and Shadow-Activators

• EXCHANGING - Attendees will Feel, Think, Question, Interact, Bond, and Imagine...and at times, Stretch their Comfort Zones to take on this Difficult Content Together, with Permission to Share, Reveal and Connect with Each Other to the Edges of Their Chosen Boundaries.

• MOVEMENT - Gamified Exercises and Physical Movement that Transcends spoken language and Embodies and Integrates  Emotional Content Deeply Rooted in the Body

• EMPOWERMENT - All "Transcending Racism Together" DreamShops are led by BIPOC individuals, holding a "safe/brave space" for those identifying with marginalization. All attendees – BIPOC and allies alike – will leave the DreamShop with tools and inspiration to make Micro-Progressions in their Personal and Community Lives.

Through this programming, our facilitators will ignite Curiosity, leading to New Connections, Bonding with other Engaged Beings, and Insights that lead Us toward Action. If you'd like to learn more about hosting, participating in, or funding our DreamShops work, we'd love to hear from you! You can reach us by email at hello@yashapi.org.
